Lash Extension Aftercare…
After your appointment, do not wet your eyelashes for 24 hours. This will give the glue an appropriate amount of time to cure. You should also avoid steam rooms/saunas, excessive sweating and swimming during this period.
Do not use cleansers, makeup removers or moisturizers that contain oil or solvents on your lashes. Oil will weaken the adhesive bond and cause lash extensions to fall off prematurely.
Take special care around the eye area when cleansing your face. Avoid any type of oil-based product around your eyes (eye creams, moisturizers, masks, etc). Again, the oils will break down the adhesive bond.
Do not rub your eyes, instead you should get used to patting your eyes gently. This is better for your lashes and the sensitive skin around your eyes.
Brush your lash extensions several times a day, this will keep them clean and untangled. Always brush upwards and not in a back-and-forth motion.
Never pull your eyelash extension off as it can pull out your natural eyelash. If you want them removed, please make an appointment.
Do not perm, curl or tint your eyelash extensions.
Do not sleep on your face, doing so can crush and warp the extensions. Try sleeping on your side or on your back, or even invest in a specialty lash eye mask.
Commonly Asked Questions...
WILL THEY DAMAGE MY NATURAL EYELASHES?
If applied correctly, eyelash extensions should not damage the natural eyelashes. The eyelash extension is adhered to a single, isolated natural eyelash, so the natural lash can grow and shed as it normally would. The length and volume of the extensions is key. Wearing extensions that are too long or heavy can damage natural eyelashes. During your consultation with AX Art, we will examine your eyelashes and will determine a suitable length and thickness of eyelash extension to maintain the health of your natural eyelashes.
HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
Each extension should last for the life the natural eyelash cycle. As your natural lashes grow and shed, the extensions will grow and shed with them. How often you will need a touch-up will depend on how fast your lashes grow. If your lashes grow quickly, you will come in more frequently to remove the grown out lash and have a new one applied. Most clients need a touch-up within 2.5-3 weeks. Some clients prefer to come every 2 weeks to maintain the maximum fullness of their lashes.
Ideally you should have 40% of your extensions remaining at touchup time. Waiting more than 4 weeks (28 days) between appointments will require a new full set appointment.
We are currently offering a 3 week fill for $50!!
4 week fills are $65 (before tax)!!
HOW DO I MAINTAIN THEM?
They are actually quite easy to maintain. It is important to keep your eyelashes clean by cleansing them throughly and daily. Also, avoid waterproof cosmetics, and products with oil in the eye area. You will be given proper aftercare instructions at the time of appointment. You can also refer to the top of this page.
CAN I GET THEM WET?
Yes! One of the many ways that wearing eyelash extensions differs from mascara or other types of false lashes, such as lash strips is that you can get them wet. You can swim and workout with no smudging! Just be sure to wait atleast 24 hours before doing so. Please note that frequent swimming does affect retention.
IS YOUR ADHESIVE MEDICAL GRADE?
We use a medical-grade cyanoacrylate adhesive, created in a US-based, FDA registered facility that specializes in medical adhesives. Our adhesives are made up of the same properties and ingredients found in medical-grade adhesives used by surgeons to close wounds.
WHAT ARE THE LASHES MADE OUT OF?
Silk and faux mink lash extensions are the most common in the lash industry today. Faux mink, silk, and all synthetic lashes are made with a plastic fiber called PBT, Polybutylene terephthalate and are known for their natural, semi-matte appearance mimicking the look of natural lashes. We unfortunately don’t use real mink lashes are the lightest, softest lashes, but they don’t hold their curl well. Also, testing has shown a higher percentage of people will have adverse reactions to contact with lash extensions made from animal hairs, such as mink.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
Please come to your appointment makeup free. To ensure a proper adhesive bond and optimum lash retention, we require removal of all eye makeup prior to your lash appointment, and prefer a freshly cleansed face. If you are unable to do so, there is cleanser and eye makeup remover provided, but please arrive early to allow time for cleansing, so we can spend your entire appointment time applying your lashes.
